Community Wellness & Prevention Infectious Disease and Reproductive Health Office of the Assistant Secretary

The Office of the
Assistant Secretary provides budget and operations support and
leadership direction for the division. The Office also provides
communication between DOH and local public health nursing directors,
implementation of a statewide consolidated contract, legislative and
policy coordination, Public Health Standards integration, and publication,
web and information technology assistance.The
Health Promotion
unit is a consulting group on health education and health promotion
interventions to other programs in the department and to local health
jurisdictions. They host the Health Education Resource Exchange (H.E.R.E.
in Washington)—an online health promotion clearinghouse—consult with state and local health programs on social marketing
strategies, and advance health education practice in the state through
training and networking opportunities.
The Public Health
Preparedness Team is responsible for public health readiness in the
area of large scale emergencies requiring mass level interventions such as
mass vaccination, mass dispensing of pharmaceuticals, mass isolation and
quarantine, and disaster mental health. In addition, unit staff also
play a role in campus safety and emergency management. The Information Technology (IT) Unit is made up of eight staff who support various program areas across the Division. The unit is a result of all the divisions centralizing their IT staff. The newest unit within the Office of the Assistant Secretary consists of our new Strategic Communications Manager, the Web and Survey Coordinator, and the position responsible for overseeing our GMAP/HMAP and quality improvement processes.
