Apply for WIC in Three Easy Steps

Step 1:  Find a WIC clinic.

  • To find the WIC clinic closest to your home, use our online WIC clinic search site or call the Family Health Hotline, a program of WithinReach, at 1-800-322-2588.
  • The Family Health Hotline staff will tell you the address and phone number of the WIC clinic closest to you.  There are over 220 WIC clinics in Washington, so there's probably one near you. The Family Health Hotline can also tell you about other services you might need like:
    • Free or low-cost health, medical, dental insurance.
    • Prenatal care, pregnancy help and support.
    • Free or low cost birth control and family planning.
    • Programs to help pay for child care.
    • Food and nutrition programs—Basic Food Program, Summer Meals Program, food banks, etc.

Step 2:  Make an appointment to apply for WIC.

  • Friendly WIC staff will help you schedule an appointment and will answer your questions about WIC.
  • The appointment to determine if you are eligible takes only about 30-45 minutes.

Step 3:  Bring identification, proof of residency, and proof of income to your WIC appointment.

  • If you are pregnant, also bring proof of pregnancy.
  • WIC staff will talk with you and fill out the information needed. You do not have to fill out a lot of paperwork.
  • Eligible clients get WIC checks for food on the day of their appointment. No waiting!
