History: Broadening access to schools

In 2004, the Washington State Department of Health piloted expanded Immunization Registry access to school districts in one county. The results showed that access to Immunization Registry records saves resources, time, and energy for staff and nurses; provides a clear picture of the immunization status of kids in your schools; and allows more time for everything else your school staff do. Local health jurisdictions and medical practices across the state expressed their support and need for expanding access to the Immunization Registry to schools.
