Maternal and Infant Health AssessmentThe Key Indicators of Perinatal Health for Washington Residents (PDF, 270 KB) provides information to identify perinatal health issues and help guide decision making in state agencies. The indicators were derived from Washington State birth, fetal death, and death certificate data, the First Steps Database, and the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System. The Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System is an on going state specific, population based surveillance system designed to identify and monitor selected maternal behaviors and experiences before, during, and after pregnancy. For more information about PRAMS in Washington State, call 1-877-867-7267 or go to the Washington State PRAMS web page or the national PRAMS web page. The Department and Social Health Services Research and Data Analysis Division provides analyses of government funded social and health services in the State of Washington. The Research and Data Analysis Division also houses the Human Research Review Board, which protects the privacy and confidentiality of the public who participate in research projects under the jurisdiction of the Department of Social Health Services or the Department of Health. The Department of Health Vital Statistics provides powerful indicators of health problems and, therefore, can help us to track progress toward health improvement goals. Vital statistics pertains to basic events of life, typically birth, death, marriage, and divorce. The Maternal and Child Health Assessment program provides data, analysis, research, surveillance, and consultative support and management of all assessment related activities in the Office of Maternal and Child Health. Maternal and Infant Health staff contribute to The Health of Washington State. This document is a statewide assessment of health status, health risks, and health systems. |
