Maternal, Infant, Child, Adolescent Health Program and Tobacco Prevention and Control Program
in collaboration with Department of Social and Health Services, the
statewide Perinatal Advisory Committee and other heath care
professionals have developed a best practice booklet for prenatal care
providers. This document was designed for physicians and other
healthcare professionals and is not intended for the general public. It
contains terms, abbreviations and acronyms that may not be familiar to
those outside the field of healthcare.
Smoking Cessation
During Pregnancy: Guidelines for Intervention includes information
on using motivational interviewing techniques, tips for dealing with
relapse, developing quit plans, pharmacotherapy information and
additional resources, and the new Department of Social and Health
Services Smoking Cessation Benefit. (These documents were designed for
physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals and is not
intended for the general public. It contains terms, abbreviations, and
acronyms that may not be familiar to those outside the field of
