Unrepaired leaks can be costly!

Here's important information you can share with customers in a newsletter or water bill.

Unrepaired leaks in service lines and distribution mains can cause major water losses over time, and they are not usually visible to us. A leak about the size of this "O" can waste 129,600 gallons a year, enough to fill a public swimming pool. Now, that's a lot of water! Imagine how much more could be lost with a bigger leak, or look at the card below.

We are working to eliminate our leaks and you should pay attention to yours, too.

If your faucet leaks at a rate of one drop per second, you're wasting 2,700 gallons per year. That's about the amount of water the average American uses in a month according to a recent survey (101 gallons per day per person).

Research indicates that 5 percent of all residential water use is wasted through leaky toilets. Check your toilet by putting food coloring in the toilet tank. If color appears in the bowl without flushing, there's a leak. That leak is costing you money and could ruin your septic system.
