The Washington State Department of Health designed this tool kit to provide ways for water utilities to communicate the benefits of Washington tap water to their customers. Businesses, agencies, schools and other organizations are also welcome to use the kit. The tools have been designed to encourage Washington state residents to choose tap water when they can, and to help them increase their confidence in the quality of their drinking water.

Tool Kit materials on this Web site are also available on CDs. They can be ordered at no cost through our publication database. Select link "By Publication number." The number is #331-374.

  • Tap Water Key Messages - Campaign theme, tagline, sample tagline uses and additional key messages.
  • Tap Water Fact Sheet - This fact sheet includes simple facts about the Earth’s water and how to be a responsible water user.  

  • Tap Water Quiz - This Tap Water Quiz is provided for utilities to use in newsletters or other customer communications.

  • Tap Trivia for Kids - Teachers might want to use this short quiz as a way to engage their students in a discussion about water issues. Utilities may also wish to share it to help their youngest customers begin to understand the value of water.
  • “Tap into Goodness” Article - This article describes the benefits of tap water and educates residents on how tap water is regulated and tested through their local water utility. Utilities may insert their company name at several places throughout the article. 
  • Ideas for Projects (1076 KB) - This document is full of great ideas for fun projects that will help get the word out about tap water.

Products

You can use the artwork and designs in the free tool kit to develop promotional products, such as T-shirts, pitchers, hats, magnets, water bottles, coasters, awards and more.
