Human West Nile Virus Infection Confirmed in 2006 (updated December 31, 2006)

During 2006 there were three confirmed human WNV infections acquired within Washington State (two in Pierce County, one in Clark County).  The virus also was detected in horses and birds in Washington in 2006. 

Arboviral (arthropod-borne viral) Diseases, including West Nile virus (WNV) infections, must be reported to local health jurisdictions in Washington State.
