CHAT The
Community Health Assessment Tool (CHAT) will provide secure
web-based access to a repository containing a variety of data
collections gathered and maintained by the Washington State
Department of Health (DOH) in separate, uncoordinated databases.
CHAT replaces two older tools for analyzing these data: VistaPHw and
EpiQMS. The CHAT tool will permit the continuation of established
periodic assessments by Local Health Jurisdictions and other
healthcare professionals in DOH while enlarging the opportunities
for accessing and under-standing these data. |

CHAT data can be retrieved and represented in a variety of forms: • Statistical tables which can be exported for analysis in Excel or other spreadsheet and database programs, • Charts and graphs, and • Maps showing geographic distributions. The tool also includes the ability for users to define and store query definitions for repetitive use over time. It will also provide users with the ability to create custom queries based upon user-defined data or variables. The first CHAT user modules, scheduled for release in July 2009, will support queries into birth risk factors and hospitalization. Scheduled for release later in 2009 and in 2010 are: • Modules accessing death and cancer data as well as relevant hospitalization data from adjoining states, • Modules accessing communicable disease, sexually transmitted disease and tuberculosis, • Mapping of query outcomes, and • Support of custom queries. If you have questions or need further information about CHAT, contact: Jim Schlotter Project Manager, Community Health Assessment Tool Jim.schlotter@doh.wa.gov 360-236-4489 |
