Biotoxins Unit

The Biotoxins unit performs laboratory analyses of shellfish samples for presence of saxitoxins, the cause of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) and domoic acid, the cause of amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP).  This function of the lab is in support of the Office of Shellfish Safety and Water Protection of the Department of Health.
