Risk and Safety Assessment, Final Report

The Risk and Safety Assessment
was conducted to provide a comprehensive
evaluation of potential risks to the community
posed by the presence of the Washington State
Department of Health's (DOH) Public Health
Laboratory (PHL) located in Shoreline,
Washington. This Assessment report was
prepared according to the
Scope of Work by Kleinfelder under DOH Work Order #1,
Contract # GA 32206, DOH #N17187.
The Assessment report provides
information on potential risks from biological,
chemical, radiological and physical hazards that
may arise from the Laboratory, as well as risks
of illness, injury, or other harm to the general
public who may be exposed directly of indirectly
to consequences of the presence and activities
of the PHL. The assessment includes
both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
to evaluate risk and was performed according to
accepted professional and academic industry
standards by a team of professionals in the
fields of laboratory biosafety, laboratory
chemical hygiene, laboratory radiological
safety, and laboratory risk analysis.
The Department redacted some text in the Risk
and Safety Assessment Report because it is
exempt from public disclosure under RCW
42.56.420 (1)(a). |
