|
Welcome to the Department of Health’s Health IT page. This website provides information about the adoption of Health Information Technology, Health Information Exchange (HIE), Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program and Meaningful Use in Washington State specifically. Provisions in the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act included the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. This stimulus plan has two components: one that drives building of each state’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) infrastructure and; another that aids adoption and Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records (EHR). Department of Health has formed the Meaningful Use Health Information Technology Workgroup to prepare to qualify to be an early adopter of the HIE system. The Workgroup consists of members from Department of Health, Local Health Jurisdictions, and other partners. This page and sub pages will change overtime as more details are known and will include specific guides from divisions at the DOH that have interests and responsibilities related to meaningful use. Please note some important external websites from Washington State and the Federal Partners in the Right hand navigation bar. Email us for additional information contact Bryant T Karras MD, Informatics Office or Frank Westrum CIO, Division of Information Resource Management.
