  • Update: Korean shellfish and shellfish products
    Based on a notification from the Food and Drug Administration, Washington, along with other state health departments has instituted a recall and issued a public advisory letting consumers know that many shellfish products from Korea may be contaminated.  Few specific details are available right now. If more information is provided this page will be updated. You can also check the FDA website.

  • Japan earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear incident: one year anniversary
    After the March 2011 disaster in Japan damaged nuclear power plants, the Washington State Department of Health began posting radiological data from around the state. Monitoring and test results consistently showed levels well below any health risk to Washington residents. A year later, radiation readings in our state remain at background levels.

    The governor has announced her proposed supplemental state budget, including some cuts to public health funding and added funding for a few select programs.
     
  • American Recovery and Reinvestment Act  (ARRA)
