Public Health
Partnering with the Healthcare System Subgroup
With healthcare reform, it is time for
public health to more effectively and strategically partner with
the healthcare system. Doing so will improve access to
quality, affordable and integrated health care that incorporates
routine clinical preventive services and is available in rural
and urban communities
alike. It is the role of this subgroup to evaluate and question
how public health can be more effective by partnering with the
healthcare system.
The subgroup is co-chaired by
Joan Brewster, Director of Grays Harbor County County Public Health and
Social Services Department and
Karen Jensen, Assistant Secretary for the Health Systems
Quality Assurance Division of the Washington State Department of Health. Workgroup members
consist of a diverse group of public health professionals across
multiple disciplines from various governmental public health
agencies. All of these individuals play a critical role in
understanding the factors that impact local, state and national
public health.
