State suspends the license of Pierce County physician
OLYMPIA ¾ The Medical Quality Assurance Commission and the Washington State Department of Health have immediately suspended the license of Pierce County physician Timothy B. Jolley (MD00015352) for sexual misconduct. This action, called a "summary suspension," means that he must immediately stop practicing medicine and surgery in the state of Washington.
The statement of charges alleges that Jolley, a pediatrician, had sexual contact with two mothers of his patients. It also alleges that Jolley failed to comply with a commission order. The commission previously disciplined Jolley in 1988 for similar allegations of sexual misconduct. The commission placed restrictions on his license until 1992. These included having a chaperone present, completing an ethics course, and establishing a shared practice with another physician. The summary suspension and charging documents are available online at http://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/professions/.
Jolley has 20 days to respond to charges of unprofessional conduct and has the right to request a "prompt hearing."
The Medical Quality Assurance Commission regulates physicians and physician assistants in Washington state. The program establishes, monitors and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline. Rules, policies and procedures promote the delivery of quality health care to state residents.
