Twanoh shellfish beach immediately closed to harvest

OLYMPIA ¾ Shellfish harvesting at Twanoh State Park in Mason County remains closed due to elevated levels of bacteria found in Twanoh Creek. Beaches at the park were closed to shellfish harvesting July 29 and have been closed ever since.

The Washington State Department of Health and other stakeholders continue to evaluate potential sources of pollution around the State Park.
Twanoh State Park is a popular destination in Mason County, and people travel from many parts of the state to visit. Mason County Health Department has posted notices on the beach explaining conditions to park visitors.

The Food Safety and Shellfish Program (http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/sf/default.htm) Web site has general information about recreational and commercial shellfish harvest.
