Washington Medical Commission suspends the license of Seattle physician

OLYMPIA ¾ The Medical Quality Assurance Commission and the state Department of Health have suspended the license of Seattle pediatric physician Bill S. Schnall (MD00013259) on allegations of abuse of a patient, moral turpitude, malpractice and interference with an investigation. This action, called a summary suspension, means Schnall must immediately stop practicing medicine pending the outcome of a hearing.

According to the statement of charges, Schnall allegedly engaged in inappropriate and sexually explicit behaviors with several adolescent male patients. The charges also allege Schnall inappropriately prescribed certain medications. He allegedly also interfered with the department’s investigation by contacting a patient in a threatening manner. He also had contact with a second patient after having been told by the department not to contact him.

Schnall has 10 days to request a prompt hearing and 20 days to respond to the statement of charges. The charging documents are available on Provider Credential Search (https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/hpqa1/Application/Credential_Search/profile.asp) or by calling 360-236-4700.

The Medical Quality Assurance Commission regulates physicians and physician assistants in Washington. The program establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline. Rules, policies and procedures promote the delivery of quality health care to state residents.
