Child rape charge leads to immediate suspension of nurse in Pierce County
Man also charged with possessing a firearm on school grounds

OLYMPIA ¾ The license of a nurse who works at Western State Hospital has been immediately suspended by state officials after his arrest on criminal rape charges. The state Department of Health and the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission took action against the license of Lakewood licensed practical nurse Donald Randall (LP00046191) on allegations of moral turpitude. Randall cannot practice or be employed as a licensed practical nurse, pending resolution of the commission’s charges.

According to the statement of charges issued by the Nursing Commission, Randall was arrested and jailed by Pierce County authorities and charged with first-degree child rape and possessing a gun on school grounds. Randall has an opportunity to respond to the charges against his license and to request a hearing. The charging documents are available online on Provider Credential Search (https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/hpqa1/Application/Credential_Search/profile.asp) or by calling the customer service center, 360-236-4700.

Allegations of sexual misconduct are taken very seriously by the state Department of Health and the Nursing Commission. Such cases are given a priority ranking and considered immediately.

The Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission protects and promotes public health, safety and welfare in Washington by regulating the competency and quality of nurses. The program establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline. Rules, policies, and procedures developed by the commission promote the delivery of quality health care to people in Washington.
