State suspends Puyallup physician for inappropriate touching and comments
OLYMPIA ¾ The Department of Health has immediately suspended the license of Puyallup physician David M. Brown (MD00017687) following charges of unprofessional conduct. This immediate action, called a summary suspension, means Brown cannot practice medicine pending the outcome of a hearing.
According to the statement of charges, Brown inappropriately touched and made inappropriate comments to three female patients. The charges also accuse Brown of prescribing controlled substances or legend drugs for other than legitimate and therapeutic purposes. Additional allegations include failing to follow-up on lab tests, failing to document medical information to support the diagnosis, failing to seek consultation with appropriate experts based on the diagnosis and continuing to prescribe medications despite signs of abuse or addiction.
Consumers who believe a health care provider acted unprofessionally are encouraged to call Health Professions Quality Assurance, 360-236-4700 to report their complaint.
Health Professions Quality Assurance regulates health care providers in
Washington. The division monitors and enforces qualifications for licensing,
registration or certification, consistent standards of practice, continuing
competency mechanisms and discipline. Rules, policies and procedures promote the
delivery of quality health care to state residents.
