Bellevue physician suspended — improper prescribing, sloppy record keeping
OLYMPIA -- The Washington Medical Quality Assurance Commission has immediately suspended the license of physician Milton M. Ashley (MD00004161). Charges include knowingly prescribing medications to a man who planned to give them to his girlfriend. The action, called a summary suspension, means Ashley must immediately stop practicing as a physician pending the outcome of a hearing.
According to the statement of charges Ashley wrote a prescription for a patient knowing the patient intended to give the medications to a friend. The friend was not one of Ashley’s patients. The charges say Ashley failed to perform adequate histories and physicals or failed to appropriately document that they were done; did not develop treatment plans, verify medical information, or perform standard psychiatric testing.
The legal documents in this case are available by calling 360-236-4700 or online by clicking the link to “Provider Credential Search” on the Department of Health's Internet home page (www.doh.wa.gov/).
The Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission regulates physicians and physician assistants in Washington. The program establishes, monitors, and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline. Rules, policies and procedures promote quality health care delivery.
