Paramedic from Clark County revoked from practice

OLYMPIA ¾ The Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System at the Department of Health has revoked the certification of Clark County paramedic Shayne Shults (Certification No. 0117216) for 10 years. Shults engaged in sexual acts with minors and injected them with unknown substances. Shults is also known as Shayne Michael Shults and Michael Shayne Nelson.

On three applications submitted to the department, Shults concealed a 1987 conviction for attempted indecent liberties with a child. Shults also has multiple criminal charges pending in Clark County Superior Court. His certification was immediately suspended on August 25, 2006, and he did not respond to the statement of charges, so his credential was revoked.

The legal documents associated with this case are available by calling Janet Kastl, 360-236-2832 or Sandra Dlugosz, 360-236-2831.

The Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System protects and promotes public health, safety and welfare in Washington state by regulating the competency and quality of EMS personnel. This office establishes, monitors and enforces qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline.
