Boil water advisory lifted for Vader and Enchanted Valley
OLYMPIA ¾ The boil water advisory and water use restrictions for the Vader and Enchanted Valley water systems have been lifted. The advisory covered about 1,000 people in southern Lewis County.
The Department of Health issued the advisory November 7 after heavy rains affected the clarity and quality of the water entering Vader’s treatment plant from the Cowlitz River. Enchanted Valley Water System buys its water from the city system and was also subject to the advisory. As the heavy rains subsided, water quality in the Cowlitz River improved, allowing the treatment plant to produce safe and reliable water for both systems.
Vader water system superintendent Dennis Montgomery is contacting customers to let them know the water is now safe to drink. There have been no reported illnesses associated with this incident.
"Our priority is protecting our customers’ health by making sure their drinking water is safe," Montgomery said, "We’re pleased to be able to inform everyone that our water now meets standards."
