Moses Lake physician suspended for over-prescribing drugs

OLYMPIA ¾ Charges of over-prescribing medications led to the immediate suspension of a Moses Lake doctor. The Medical Quality Assurance Commission and the state Department of Health have suspended the medical license of David T. Earl (MD00028611).

According to the statement of charges, Earl over-prescribed narcotics, addictive analgesics or other controlled substances to multiple patients. The over-prescribing put patients at risk of harm; several patients died. The charges also allege Earl prescribed and provided drugs when there were no symptoms to warrant using the drugs.

The suspension means Earl cannot practice as a physician pending the outcome of a hearing. He has 20 days to respond to the charges.
