OLYMPIA ¾ A Federal Way massage practitioner accused of inappropriately touching a female patient has been immediately suspended by the state Department of Health.
The agency suspended the massage license of John D. Atkinson (MA00022085), who cannot practice or be employed pending the outcome of a hearing into the allegations.
While giving a patient a massage Atkinson allegedly slid his hand down her chest, beneath her underwear and touched her genitals.
He has 10 days to request a prompt hearing and 20 days to respond to the statement of charges. The documents related to this case are available by clicking on Provider Credential Search on the agency’s home page (www.doh.wa.gov) or by calling 360-236-4700.
The department protects and promotes public health, safety and welfare in Washington by regulating the competency and quality of massage practitioners. Rules, policies and procedures developed by the secretary promote the delivery of quality health care to state residents.
