Council discusses health priorities for underserved groups
The Governor’s Interagency Council on Health Disparities will discuss priorities for improving the health among communities which have traditionally lagged behind the state’s population in general.
During the upcoming session, the council will continue its discussion about which health priorities the state should focus its resources on first. The term "health disparities" describes the higher rates of disease, disability and death among certain groups when compared to the general population. Serious disparities among racial and ethnic groups in Washington have been well documented.
The council meets Monday, October 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. Council members will participate by phone. The public may listen to the meeting, held at Point Plaza East, 310 Israel Rd SE., Tumwater. More information is available on the Health Disparities Council Web site (www.sboh.wa.gov/hdcouncil) or by calling the state Board of Health office, 360-236-4104.
