Nursing Commission seeks health care providers and health consumers
OLYMPIA ¾ The state Department of Health is accepting applications from registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and members of the public for the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. Members are appointed by the governor to serve four-year terms. Three positions will become available July 1.
The Governor’s Office is seeking diversity in commission members and recognizes the value it brings in understanding and serving the people of Washington. Applications are available on the Governor’s Web site (www.governor.wa.gov/boards/default.asp) or by contacting deputy executive director Terry West (terry.west@doh.wa.gov), 360-236-4712.
The responsibilities of commission members include policy making, writing advisory opinions and rules, reviewing investigations, participating in disciplinary hearings and charging panels, and providing technical assistance to students and licensees. The commission meets for one to two days, approximately six times per year. Members are paid $250 a day and are reimbursed for travel expenses.
There are other opportunities to serve on health care boards, commissions and committees with the state Department of Health. If interested, contact Leslie Magby, 360-236-4983.
