Health advisory ends for Clallam Bay Sekiu Water System

OLYMPIA — The Washington State Department of Health today ended a precautionary bottled-water advisory for the Clallam Bay Sekiu Water System in northwestern Clallam County. The system’s tap water has been thoroughly tested, and is safe to drink.

The agency issued a health advisory February 5 when Clallam County Public Utility District #1 discovered that an eight-inch water main running under the Little Hoko River had broken. About half of the system had lost water by the time the line-break was found.

The pipe was replaced last week. The system has been disinfected and water reservoirs refilled.

The system serves 1,700 full-time residents, including the Clallam Bay Corrections Center. The corrections center has a back-up supply of safe drinking water and was not adversely affected by the health advisory.

Customers may call 360-452-9771 or 1-800-542-7859 for more information.
