Murder charge leads to suspension of King County nursing assistant
OLYMPIA ¾ The state Department of Health has immediately suspended the license of Kent certified nursing assistant Joseph N. Njonge (NC10089584). He was criminally charged with first degree murder.
Njonge cannot work as a nursing assistant until charges against his credential are resolved. He has 10 days to request a prompt hearing and 20 days to respond to the charges.
Njonge was charged in King County Superior Court for the death of a 75-year old woman. The victim was the wife of a patient who lived at the Federal Way nursing facility where Njonge worked as a certified nursing assistant.
Washington State Patrol Crime Lab determined that Njonge’s DNA matched DNA samples found under the victim’s fingernails. The charges are online; click "Provider Credential Search" on the agency’s home page (www.doh.wa.gov) or call 360-236-4700.
The Department of Health protects public health and safety in Washington. The department licenses and disciplines nursing assistants using standards of practice.
