OLYMPIA ¾ Sexual misconduct charges have led the Washington State Board of Optometry to immediately restrict the practice of Walla Walla County optometrist Kelly J. Cochrane (OD00001536). He cannot treat female or minor patients; he can only have male assistants.
A summary restriction means Cochrane’s practice is restricted immediately, and the restrictions remain in place pending the outcome of a hearing.
Charging documents say Cochrane engaged in sexual misconduct with one patient and three employees, two of whom were also patients. The allegations include touching their breasts, kissing them, grabbing an assistant’s buttocks, and taking an assistant’s hand and placing it on his crotch through his clothing.
Cochrane has 20 days to respond to the charges and 10 days to request a prompt hearing.
Legal documents are online; click the link to “Provider Credential Search” on the Department of Health home page (www.doh.wa.gov) or call 360-236-4700. Anyone who believes a health care provider acted unprofessionally is encouraged to call that number to report their complaint.
