Mission

HSQA protects and improves the health of people in Washington State by supporting the health care delivery system.

Vision:

HSQA is the leader in patient safety, prevention, and health systems development.

Values:

HSQA is guided by the desire to build the public’s trust, strong relationships, integrated service delivery and a satisfied workforce.

Goal 1. Improve people’s health

a. Objective: Use proven strategies to prevent disease and injury.

i. Strategy: Educate communities and health care providers on best practices to decrease injury and disease.

ii. Strategy: Use information to improve health outcomes in the communities served.

b. Objective: Develop and maintain a responsive system of care.

i. Strategy: Increase access to health care services.

Goal 2. Enhance patient safety

a. Objective: Patients have access to safe, quality care.

i. Strategy: Develop standards of care that improve patient safety.

b. Objective: Health care providers and facilities are qualified and provide safe care.

i. Strategy: Issue credentials in a timely manner.

ii. Strategy: Respond to and resolve allegations of misconduct or unsafe care promptly.

iii. Strategy: Inspect and survey facilities to meet safety standards.

c. Objective: The public has the information needed to make an informed decision.

i. Strategy: Respond to inquiries from the public.

 

Goal 3. Make every resource count

a. Objective: Use technology to improve HSQA’s service delivery.

i. Strategy: Identify, organize, and centralize data to avoid duplication of work.

ii. Strategy: Adopt enterprise content management system.

iii. Strategy: Develop and implement online licensing system to improve efficiency and customer service.

b. Objective: Identify and implement opportunities to improve the health care system.

i. Strategy: Forge a stronger relationship with partners in the health care system.

ii. Strategy: Improve the quality and use of data.

iii. Strategy: Use data to inform the decisions we make.

c. Objective: Be accountable.

i. Strategy: Apply resources to essential activities.

ii. Strategy: Monitor, report, and respond to workload indicators.

Goal 4. Have an exemplary workforce

a. Objective: Strengthen employee-supervisor relationships

i. Strategy: Obtain employee input regularly.

ii. Strategy: Help staff succeed.

iii. Strategy: Clearly communicate performance expectations and results.

iv. Strategy: Provide effective and timely feedback to employees.

b. Objective: Increase employee recognition.

i. Strategy: Recognize staff regularly for the work they do.

c. Objective: Maintain a talented and diverse workforce.

i. Strategy: Identify cost-effective training opportunities.

ii. Strategy: Within resources, identify opportunities for cross-training, networking, peer support and the sharing of best practices.

iii.  Promote division and agency activities that support the value of a diverse workforce and increase cultural competency.

a. Objective: Respond to our customers in a timely manner.

i. Strategy: Respond to customer inquiries

b. Objective: Use feedback to improve internal and external service delivery.

i. Strategy: Implement and administer agency customer survey.

c. Objective: Improve organizational communication, collaboration, and performance.

i. Strategy: Design common business practices that provide strong customer service.
