Colds and Flu

Antibiotics don't kill viruses. They don't work against colds, the flu, most cases of bronchitis, sinus problems, or earaches. Taking an antibiotic won't make a cold or flu go away any faster. It can also destroy the good bacteria in your stomach, and weaken your immune system.

Publications

Publications about antibiotic resistance are no longer available from the Department of Health. Some of these publications are still available to download from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
