We are a health promotion and prevention-based sexual and reproductive health program. We provide people with tools and skills to plan healthy, well-timed and intended pregnancies.
Through federal Title X and state funding, we work with 70 family planning clinics to make sure that a full range of family planning, sexual and reproductive health services are available across the state.
In 2011, family planning clinics served 90,549 unduplicated clients. Of these clients:
- 65 percent had incomes at or below the 100 percent Federal Poverty Level.
- 50 percent were uninsured.
The 2012 Plan to Improve Adolescent Health in Washington State addresses adolescent health and youth development.
Washington State also has the Healthy Youth Act. The law states public schools that provide sexual health education must make sure that it is medically and scientifically accurate, age appropriate, and appropriate for students regardless of gender, race, disability status, or sexual orientation.
The Pregnant and Parenting Teens and Women grant focuses on helping pregnant and parenting teens finish school and have healthy babies.
The Washington Personal Responsibility Education Program (WA PREP) seeks to reduce teen pregnancy through teaching evidence based curriculums.
