We work to:

  • Improve the health of people with, or at risk of, genetic disease.
  • Identify babies who have hearing-loss and help their parents get the resources they need. This is known as the Early Hearing-loss Detection, Diagnosis and Intervention (EHDDI) Program

We do this by:

  • Providing information to individuals, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Helping families locate genetic counselors or pediatric audiologists (hearing doctor for children).
  • Monitoring the quality of genetic and hearing services in Washington.
  • Collecting data about genetics clinics and infant hearing screening.
  • Supporting Washington's genetics clinics and counselors.
  • Providing educational opportunities for health care providers.
