The Early Intervention Program (EIP) covers limited HIV-related services and prescription medications.  Clients are often better served by accessing other programs that provide comprehensive medical care.

Insurance Premium Payment Program

  • Evergreen Health Insurance Program (EHIP) - EHIP assists clients with an HIV or AIDS diagnosis to obtain insurance and pays the premiums.  Certain eligibility requirements must be met.  For more information, visit the EHIP website or call EHIP at 800-945-4256 or 206-323-2834.

Health Care Coverage

  • COBRA Insurance Continuation - When clients have health insurance through an employer and stop working, they have the opportunity to pay a premium and keep their insurance for at least 18 months. EHIP may pay the premium for eligible clients.  For more information, contact EHIP listed above.

  • Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP) - WSHIP is a comprehensive health insurance program for people who are denied or who have lost other health insurance coverage.  EHIP may pay the premium for eligible clients.  For more information, visit the WSHIP website or call 800-877-5187.

  • Medicaid (DSHS) - Medicaid provides comprehensive medical coverage including doctor visits, medications, hospital care, long term care and medical equipment.  Specific eligibility requirements must be met.   EIP may provide coverage while a client's Medicaid application is pending.  EIP may also pay up to $900 per month towards a client's spenddown.  For more information, visit the Medicaid website, contact the the DSHS Community Services Office (CSO) in your area, or contact DSHS Customer Service at 1-877-980-9180.
