Free Hepatitis A and B Vaccine

HEPATITIS A

Hepatitis A is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV).  It is spread by fecal matter in contaminated drinking water or food prepared by someone infected with the virus. 

You may be at risk if you:

§         Live with someone infected with the virus.

§         Have sex with someone infected with the virus.

§         Travel to countries where hepatitis A is common .

§         Are a man who has sex with men.

§         Inject illegal drugs.

 

HEPATITIS B

 Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV).  It is spread through contact with the blood or body fluids of someone who has the virus.

You may be at risk if you:

§         Have sex with someone infected with the virus.

§         Have multiple sex partners.

§         Have been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease.

§         Are a man who has sex with men.

§         Inject illegal drugs.

§         Share straws for snorting drugs.

If you have any of these risk factors for hepatitis A or B, you may be eligible to receive a free combination hepatitis A/B vaccine.  The following organizations will began providing free vaccine to those at risk.  Call the organization in your area to schedule an appointment.

(Participating pilot sites may charge an administrative fee and/or office visit fee. Fees may be charged to third party payers or a sliding fee scale may be offered based on a client's income. Clients will not be refused a test based on inability to pay).
