The Assessment Unit supports the Department of Health Tuberculosis Program by providing epidemiologic expertise in the analysis of  Tuberculosis morbidity in regards to Tuberculosis cases and their contacts.

The Assessment Unit also:

  • conducts data entry into and management of the Tuberculosis databases;

  • in close collaboration with Tuberculosis Program staff, assists in routine monitoring of incidence for outbreaks and helps to plan responses to Tuberculosis outbreaks around the state;

  • monitors the accuracy of Tuberculosis data collection from local health jurisdictions to the Department of Health Tuberculosis Program;

  • prepares the Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Profile and the Cohort Review Annual Report (available in March 2005);

  • runs custom analyses of Tuberculosis incidence for local public health jurisdictions and community partners addressing issues of current need; and,

  • supports the Tuberculosis program by providing epidemiologic leadership for special on-going projects such as the Tuberculosis Cohort Review, which takes place on a quarterly basis and includes all counties in Washington State.
