As one of the programs within the Office of Infectious Disease and Reproductive Health (IDRH), the Assessment Unit conducts disease surveillance, data collection, data entry, data analysis, and data dissemination activities that support the other IDRH programs.
Data to support the programs are collected via special studies, needs assessments, quality assurance activities and program evaluations. Additionally, the Assessment Unit conducts HIV/AIDS Surveillance and Chronic Hepatitis Surveillance for the state. Most Assessment Unit staff, which include epidemiologists, health planners, research investigators, and data managers and compilers, work across program areas in order to develop staff skills, build program collaborations, and maximize effective use of resources. |
