The Assessment Unit (AU) supports the DOH TB Program by providing epidemiologic expertise in the analysis of TB morbidity in regards to TB cases and their contacts.

The AU also:

  • conducts data entry into and management of the TB databases;

  • in close collaboration with TB Program staff, assists in routine monitoring of incidence for outbreaks and helps to plan responses to TB outbreaks around the state;

  • monitors the accuracy of TB data collection from local health jurisdictions to the DOH TB Program;

  • prepares the Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Profile and the Cohort Review Annual Report (available in March 2005);

  • runs custom analyses of TB incidence for local public health jurisdictions and community partners addressing issues of current need; and,

  • supports the TB program by providing epidemiologic leadership for special on-going projects such as the TB Cohort Review, which takes place on a quarterly basis and includes all counties in Washington State.
