Members sit on the Vaccine Advisory Committee (VAC) for a five-year term with the option to extend one more term, for a total of ten years.
Organizations represented on the VAC have the option to extend their representatives’ terms beyond the two five-year terms.
For organizations and entities that have multiple members on the VAC, terms will be staggered to avoid all representatives leaving their positions simultaneously.
Additionally, the Washington State Health Officer, who chairs the committee, appoints consultants representing private pediatric practice, the Children’s Hospital, and Group Health. Consultants do not have defined terms of membership.
