DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis) Vaccine
DTaP is one of four vaccines used to prevent diphtheria, tetanus,
and pertussis. DTaP is given to children younger than age seven years.
Children under seven who cannot tolerate the pertussis component in DTaP can get
vaccinated with DT because it does not contain pertussis. Children should get five doses of DTaP; one dose at each of the following
ages:
- Two months.
- Four months.
- Six months.
- Fifteen to eighteen months.
- Four to six years.
Washington State is currently supplying:
- Sanofi Pasteur DTaP vaccine, brand name, Daptacel. The vaccine
has typical availability.
- Sanofi Pasteur DT vaccine, brand name, DT. The vaccine has typical
availability.
- GlaxoSmithKline DTaP/HepB/IPV vaccine, brand name, Pediarix. The
vaccine has typical availability.

- There is no separate Vaccine Information Statement for
combination vaccines. For patients receiving Pediarix, please
give the Vaccine Information Statements for
DTaP,
Hepatitis B, and
IPV.
