Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant

The Preventive Health Block Grant is a source of public health funding provided annually by Congress to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, two American Indian tribes, and eight U.S. territories. It is managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Every state uses this money differently, depending on their public health needs.

Advisory committee
In Washington State, the Preventive Health Block Grant is managed by the Health Promotion Practice and Policy Section at the Washington State Department of Health. Funding decisions are guided by an advisory committee made up of representatives from local public health agencies, community organizations, schools of public health, and the general public.
