This manual is designed to present the key steps and crucial information needed to perform tuberculosis (TB) control tasks in states in which TB occurs less than 4.8 cases/100,000 population/year.  Where additional or more detailed information is available, hyperlinks to CDC guidelines and other resources are provided. The audience for this manual includes city/county/regional public health nurses, outreach workers, physicians, and public health officers; Indian Health Services (IHS) staff; physician consultants; private sector physicians; infection control nurses in hospitals and other facilities; disease intervention specialists; state epidemiologists; and state TB services staff.
