New Food Choices 2009

On October 1, 2009 the Washington State WIC Nutrition Program will have a new approved food list. This new list is based on recent changes in federal laws that:

• Align WIC foods with national dietary recommendations
• Promote & support breastfeeding
• Increase the variety of foods available to WIC clients
• Accommodate cultural food preferences

To provide comments to the US Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service about the federal WIC food rule, go to the Regulations.gov Public Comment and Submission Form.  USDA/FNS will accept comments on the federal WIC food rule through January 30, 2010.
