Addressing Asthma in Tribal Communities

The Asthma Program began an asthma home visits project with a Washington tribe in 2010. The four-year project goals:

  • reduce asthma health disparities
  • build capacity of Washington Tribes to address asthma
  • develop a program for home visits that can be used by all tribes.
The Asthma Program offers free technical assistance to tribes wanting to build capacity. This can include:
  • Help 2007 national asthma guidelines
  • Staff training in asthma education and assessing home environments
  • How to set up an asthma home visits program
  • Asthma tools and resources
