Emergency Cardiac & Stroke ResponseEmergency responders—9-1-1 dispatch, emergency medical services, and hospital emergency departments—play a critical role in preventing death and disability from stroke, heart attack, and other cardiac emergencies. To get people who are having a heart attack or stroke to the right place in time to get optimal care, we are creating a coordinated Emergency Cardiac and Stroke System. System changes underway to improve emergency heart and stroke careWe are working with the Office of Community Health Systems and the Emergency Cardiac and Stroke Technical Advisory Committee to improve emergency care. The work is based on recommendations in the Emergency Cardiac and Stroke Care in Washington 2008 report The committee has developed:
