Get With The Guidelines

The Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program and the American Stroke Association, together, recruit and sponsor hospitals to join the Get With the GuidelinesSM Program.

Hospital-Based Quality Improvement

The American Stroke Association created the program Get With the Guidelines-Stroke to empower hospital-based teams to make sure that stroke patients are consistently treated with proven methods

  • Hospitals must make comprehensive system changes to sustain quality of care. Get With the GuidelinesSM helps hospitals identify where system change is needed.

  • The Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention program pays the enrollment fees for hospitals that participate.

  • Get With the GuidelinesSM has four award levels for hospitals that meet quality criteria and sustain it over time.

  • Awarded hospitals are included in the annual “Best Hospitals” issue of U.S. News & World Report.
