Vaccine PartnersHistory of the Vaccine ProjectIn 2007, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) set aside a portion of surplus 317 vaccine to support efforts to vaccinate high-risk adults against Hepatitis A and B. With the vaccine, DOH established a statewide vaccination pilot project. The project offers Hepatitis A and B vaccine through local health departments and the State Department of Corrections. The goal of the project is to increase the amount of vaccine given to high-risk adults through participating venues. The vaccine used is a three dose series of Hepatitis A and B vaccine called Twinrix®. In the first year of the project, DOH received 15,398 doses of Twinrix® from CDC. In Year 2 DOH received additional doses and expanded the project to new partners, including two tribal health clinics and a community based organization. By the end of Year 2, the project dispersed an additional 13,347 doses. Currently, DOH is in Year 3 of the project. Adults who receive free Twinrix® vaccine through this project are:
How the Vaccine Project WorksIf you have any of the risk factors listed above for Hepatitis A or B, you may be eligible to receive a free combination Hepatitis A/B vaccine. Organizations listed below are working to provide free vaccine to those at risk. Call the organization in your area to find out if you are eligible and get more information. Participating sites may charge a small administrative fee and/or office visit fee. Fees may be charged to third party payers or a sliding fee scale may be offered based on a client's income. Clients will not be refused vaccine based on inability to pay. Click on a county in this map or scroll down the page to go to the county's vaccine information. Vaccine Information:
