Shingles vaccine was licensed in 2006. The vaccine prevents shingles in about half of people aged 60 and older. It can also reduce the pain associated with shingles.
One dose of shingles vaccine is recommended for all adults aged 60 and older, whether or not they've had shingles or chickenpox disease.
