Providers who get state-supplied vaccine are required to do Vaccines for Children (VFC) status screening. This consists of asking and documenting at every immunization visit whether or not a child is enrolled in Medicaid, is uninsured, underinsured, or American Indian or Alaska Native. This requirement started on the effective date of 2009 provider agreements. Contact your local health jurisdiction immunization coordinator for more information.
