Our purpose is to help ensure the health and safety of children in child care.

Families and professional caregivers of young children find the support they need through Healthy Child Care Washington, a statewide network of Child Care Health Consultants located in every local health jurisdiction.

Child Care Health Consultants work with local child care providers, families, child care licensors, Child Care Resource & Referral programs, and others in the community.

Consultants offer assistance on a variety of topics, such as:

  • Brain development.
  • Communicable disease.
  • Nutrition and feeding.
  • Environmental safety.
  • Social-emotional issues.
  • Oral health.
  • Sleep patterns and positions.
  • Speech, hearing and vision.

Healthy Child Care Washington is a partnership of the Department of Health Division of Maternal & Child Health, Washington State Child Health Care Resource & Referral Network, and the Department of Early Learning.  The department administers Healthy Child Care Washington, and coordinates services with local health jurisdictions.

Child-Care Providers can contact Child-Care Health Consultants through their local health jurisdictions.
